Import CNC machining centers from China to the United States

Reviewed October 2, 2026.

To import CNC machining centers from China into the United States: they classify under HS 8457, duty is calculated on the FOB value and there is no general VAT on imports. Chinese goods also pay Section 301 tariffs, 25% for most machinery, plus a 12.5% forced-labor Section 301 duty in force since July 24, 2026. There is no trade agreement with China, so the general duty for the exact tariff code applies. The key conformity requirement is UL / NFPA 79, OSHA. Order the machine for 120/240 V, 60 Hz and pay the balance only after a factory acceptance test.
