How much deposit is normal and when do I pay the balance?

By I&R Group, Jiaxing. Reviewed October 3, 2026.

A deposit of 30% to 50% to start production is typical, with the balance due after the factory acceptance test and before shipment. The exact split depends on the machine value and the relationship, and it is written into the proforma invoice. Paying 100% up front removes your leverage if something is wrong, so a balance tied to the test is safer.

  • Typical: 30–50% deposit, balance after the factory test.
  • The split is in the proforma invoice, in writing.
  • Avoid 100% up front; keep leverage until the machine passes.
